Why you must take care of your skin

(Para la versión en Español, click AQUÍ)

There is a lot of talk about caring for the health of your skin. However, it is impressive the amount of people who do not devote enough time and effort to take care of the skin, perhaps because many think that this is a purely aesthetic factor. However, it is important to note some aspects that will motivate you to take more care of the skin of your entire body.

  • The skin is the bigger organ of the body. That's right, the skin is an organ that allows our body to maintain life. It is virtually impossible for a living being to stay alive without the skin.

  • The skin is our main contact with the environment. Being the largest organ is also the most exposed to the elements. Think for example that all skin that you do not keep covered, is directly exposed to weather, dust, pollution... and even the skin apparently covered can be exposed to powerful UV rays, heat and humidity. The skin masterfully protects our body from those factors that could cause serious damage to the rest of the body.

  • There are skin diseases that could be fatal. Surely the dreaded skin cancer came to mind, but there are many more, such as scleroderma, which stiffens and damages the skin, spreading in some cases to other organs of the body.

  • Some skin conditions can affect your self-esteem. Think of acne... for many people who suffer from it can become a real nightmare, as it considerably affects the appearance, causing the person who suffers from suffering from low self-esteem.

Just as we take care of our heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, intestines... in short, all the other organs of our body, it is important that we devote time to the care of the skin. In this way it will continue to adequately fulfill its function, protect us from the environment avoiding damage to our internal organs.
